South Coast Projects, NSW
Along the South Coast of NSW are a plethora of beautiful, community-oriented towns, villages, inlets, and hubs. The sense of community support, sense of pride, and sense of place are strong - people like to declare where they come from! To celebrate this, I’ve created a range of stickers, tea towels, totes, and posters that capture the essence of life on the South Coast.
A fun way to advertise your local affiliation is through a custom bumper sticker, and after noticing an absence of bumper stickers for the smaller communities, starting with Lake Tabourie (where I live), I decided to get engaged and create the stickers myself. A few weeks passed and word spread - I was getting requests from all over the South Coast!
As this project took off, it was important to me to give back to the communities - particularly those which had suffered during the Bushfires of 2019/20 and during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. For example, when first released, 50% of all profits from the Conjola sticker were donated to the Conjola Recovery Fund. The Conjola Recovery Fund was formed to organise the recovery effort for Conjola and 'will remain in place until they are no longer needed by the Conjola community'. That fund is now closed.
$2 from the sale of each Manyana sticker sold via my site goes to the Manyana Conservation Fund. Donations made to the Manyana Conservation fund go towards the purchase of unburnt habitat, as well as the ongoing conservation and management of native forest in and around Manyana. As the fundraising partner, FNPW provides a platform for donations to be made securely by the Australian community in support of the cause.
The Yuin Country sticker was designed and made in consultation with local elders - Uncle Noel and Aunty Trish Butler. It is with their approval and at the request of members of our local community that this sticker has come into being. $2 from the sale of each Yuin Country sticker is donated directly to the Indigenous Literacy Fund by CMD. As of November 2023, we have donated over $500 to the ILF.
